Polk Museum of Art
The Polk Museum of Art is situated in Downtown Lakeland, just a couple of blocks north of the Florida Southern College campus and across from the Lakeland Public Library on Lake Morton. It was established in 1966 by a dedicated group of residents from the Lakeland, Florida community. As a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit arts organization and a Smithsonian Affiliate accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, the museum has a special status. Every year, it welcomes approximately 140,000 visitors from both the local area and around the world. The museum offers a diverse range of exhibitions and art education programs to cater to different interests. Its mission is to enrich lives by providing inspirational and engaging art experiences for people of all backgrounds. Inside the Polk Museum of Art, you’ll find The Shop, which offers a variety of handcrafted items, local discoveries, and unique pieces.
