Parks & Nature Preserves
Circle B Bar Reserve
Circle B Bar Reserve is a nature reserve situated on the northwest shoreline of Lake Hancock. What was once a cattle ranch has now become a flourishing habitat for a wide range of plants and animals. Covering an expansive area of 1,267 acres, the reserve encompasses diverse ecosystems, each with its own unique characteristics. One of the highlights is Lake Hancock, a body of water often considered the starting point of the Peace River. Keep your eyes peeled as you explore, as spotting alligators in the lake is almost a certainty. The Peace River itself stretches over 100 miles from Polk County to the Gulf of Mexico, showcasing the natural beauty of the region.
Auburndale City Park
The park boasts several lively sections. Over in the eastern corner, there’s an energetic playground with lots of play choices for kids of various ages. In the southern corner, a historic bandstand serves as a stage for community events all year round. The western corner is home to the new Auburndale Rotary Butterfly Garden, bursting with vibrant Florida-friendly plants that entice butterflies. Finally, the northern corner features the Historic Depot and various landscaped areas for everyone to relax and appreciate.
Lake Ariana Park
This is the city’s latest park, previously known as Auburndale Municipal Beach (Max Beach). It has been transformed into a lush green space, complete with picnic tables and pathways for leisurely walks along the stunning Lake Ariana grounds. Restrooms and water fountains are provided for your convenience. However, please note that grills, pets, and alcoholic beverages are not allowed in the park.
TECO Trail
The Auburndale TECO Trail links Lake Myrtle in Auburndale to Polk City, where it joins the General James A. Van Fleet Trail. This trail is level and welcomes walkers, joggers, cyclists, and inline skaters. Towards the trail’s southern tip, there’s an observation spot where you can witness bald eagles in action. These majestic birds have established a nest nearby, providing a unique wildlife viewing opportunity.
